On December 5th, Rodolfo Sarchese, President of the Astoria Homeowners, Tenants and Business Civic Association hosted its ongoing meeting at St Francis of Assisi Church at 7.30 pm. Stephen Cirabisi, 114th Pct Inspector and Dr Augello from Mt Sinai were the speakers. Inspector Cirabisi told residents of the community who attended the meeting that they must take precautions against burglars. Due to holiday seasons, burglars are out there looking for an oppurtunity to strike. Minimizing the oppurtunity is the key to

He discussed prevention by having a colonoscopy and removing polyps before they turn cancerous. Colon cancer is a silent killer and warnings may come at an advanced stage of the disease. Polyps are tumors that develop and grow in the inner walls of the colon and may turn cancerous after a few years after they form. Dr Augello also advised that at times, there could be side effects of this procedure. These include perforation of the colon or peritonitis.
